Copy Certifications

Copy Certification by Notary | As permitted by Colorado law (CRS 12-55-110), I certify copies. The certified copy must be made from the original document. One of the most frequent requests that I get is to certify copies of Power of Attorney. I also do Affidavits of True Copy (Copy Certification by Document Custodian) |

The Copy Certification by Document Custodian is an affidavit that is signed and sworn to by the person possessing the document. The person is swearing (or affirming) that the copy of the document is a true photocopy of a document in their possession. You should verify that this form of copy certification is acceptable to the agency receiving it. For example, if you are sending the copy of the document abroad, the agency may have special requirements that must be met. |

It is recommended that you do not make the copy of the document yourself prior to bringing it to the notary. The National Notary Association recommends that the notary make the copy of the document to be certified, or supervise the copying of the document. If you don't have a copier, that is not a problem. I have a portable laser copier that I can bring for certifying the copies. And my mobile office is equipped with a power inverter, so there is no limit to where the copying can be done. |
